Looking for good reference books for Lesney Matchbox

I'm new to Matchbox collecting, have almost all the 1-75 series from 1960's, most 1965-1966 years. Can anyone direct me to a good reference for Lesney Matchbox collecting? I tried to order "The Definitive Guide to Matchbox toys" by John Houghton but can't find it anywhere. Also heard of the Stannard Guide but can't find how to order it. Any help would be appreciated as to what guide to get and how to order it.

Please see the entry in The Reference Library (here) for reviews.
John Houghton's guide is only available as a digital download (here).
Stannard has long been out of print, but copies do come up on Ebay on a regular basis, but be perapred to dig deep (e.g. here).

I'm not sure how detailed you want but I've got a free download on my guide here.

My guide is fairly basic but could be helpful until you get a Houghton or Stannard.
Here's a link to the Houghton site The Definitive Guide to Matchbox Toys.

Have you tried contacting John and explaining the situation?

Hello

I have contacted John and the problem is solved.. my e-mail was incorrect.
Already received the file. It is amazing, by the way. Worth the value!

He was very attentive with me and I hope we can become closer, despite the inconvenience that I caused..

I want to thank Rodger for his guide. It is very helpful for someone who is just looking for perhaps one of each issue, and not necessarily interested in looking for each and every variation. Or perhaps like myself, just the working vehicles or sports cars and not the sedans(I believe most of you call them "saloons") or caravans. Also nice to know if you perhaps have stumbled onto a rare variation.

BTW Rodger, I guess someone has already pointed out to you that in the description of the No. 51C 8-Wheel Tipper you say that the body color is either orange or silver when the illustration clearly shows the two correct colors of orange or yellow?

Merry Christmas to all from New Jersey, U.S.A.
