Looking for some hard to find models!

Post by hydra427 »

Hi All, I am currently looking for some tougher to find high grade Matchbox models that have been eluding me for one reason or another. I am a high grade collector and willing to pay top dollar for models I am interested in. If you are looking to sell any of the following or know someone that is, please pass along this information. if you know of a sale coming up at an auction house that might have these as well please let me know. If you have something not on the list but is different and unusual and you looking to sell I might be interested in that also. I am also after any type of Matchbox display prior to 1970. Thanks in advance, John

Hi I think you are going to need some deep pockets, there is nothing rare on your list, a few hard to find, i am sure you could pick up most of them off Ebay within a few weeks Pete.

Pete, although you are correct that there is nothing very rare on my list it does become hard to find in the condition I am looking for. I would rather pay $1,000 dollars for a mint model vs $300 for a beater just to add it to my collection. There is nothing wrong with people who collect non mint cars but that is not what I am after. I also have to be wary of color touch artists and wheel swap specialists. I would rather buy from an established collection as well. I hope you understand.

Hi thats the same frame of mind that i am in i can't stand chips, unless they have got salt & vinegar on. I have always brought the best. I will except a 9 out of 10 box but the model must be mint. Hope you have some luck with your wants if i see anything i will give you a buzz Pete.

Fish and chips sound really good right now...I'll have to remember to find malt vinegar when I next go grocery shopping! I believe what we Americans call "chips" are referred to as "crisps" across the Atlantic.

I do not have any of the models John is seeking, but if I find them in the condition he's seeking, I will drop him a private message.

Hi Pete, not much luck on any of these. There have been a few on Ebay but not to my standards. I am going to post a plea to people heading to the gathering to see if there are any that would be willing to look out for any of these models.

Thanks, John
