A couple of unusual Morestones

Red-Thumb's post about his early Land Rover prompted me to add some pictures of a couple of unusual Morestones I have.

First, a cream No 20 Plymouth Belvedere. According to Nicholas Martin's wonderful site,

A cream or white coloured version is also known to have been made, possibly when the Plymouth was re-issued in 1960 but this is very rare ... It is worth noting that the pink colour fades in sunlight so very pale versions of pink can be found.

Sadly, mine has a bent windscreen but I'm pretty sure it's not a sun fade, as if anything it's whiter underneath than on the outside. The Plymouth is not Morestone's finest model.That's mainly the fault of the over-engineered windscreen, which is almost indestructible, and the crudely cast driver, but as he's part of the base he can't get lost. It's a charming little model, though, and it's surprisingly heavy.

And second, the Morestone No 19 Rover 105 with a silver base. This normally has a black base.

It's remarkably easy to find the green Rovers in good condition. It's a nice model, perhaps only spoilt by the wheels being a bit small.

The contours of the windshield are also incorrect, but I suppose they sacrificed prototypical correctness in the interest of durability. It certainly is a charming model, though.

Nicholas Martin's site is a good reference for lesser-known UK-made die-cast, and I have bookmarked it for future reference.
