stannard's was very nicely compartmented but then limited to only include 14 yrs and < 300/500 variables

You have it about right regards the grouping of 'SF' models.

Some only collect from 1969 to when production moved away from England around 1986.
Some will collect from 1986 onwards into the Mattel years.
