Forget your Ferraris,Mustangs,Bugattis even your Rolls Royce's I have owned some

of the rarest cars in the world and I have never spent more than £300 on any of

em.Unless you count a Renault 18 I bought as a Taxi back in 1983 but that was work

for two people at least..My day driver and myself.

I was looking out of the bedroom window this morning and parked across from my

house was an insignificant looking little Citroen AX "Hmm not seen one of those in a

while" I thought so just now I checked it on one of my favorite Web

sites.....https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/......So-Citroen AX Debut----Result 27 in the

UK. Now this is tyeing in with some previous searches I have done with some realy

quite astounding results...Vauxhall Viceroy[Given to me for 4 bottles of red wine-result

ONE!!!--77/78 Mazda 323-[£120 from scrap yard]----ZERO !!!!!!!

How many Metros do you think are still buzzing around?,Let me tell you according to

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/----Metro City[A very common model] 1995

150,000--2017 97!!!!.....
Now before any body and there will be plenty saying but these where all crap cars

anyway and would you realy want to own one?.Think of this ..

My Grand children have it explained to them that if they see an older man with a beard

and usualy a hat driving along in a beat up Japanese car from the

80s/70s.,Bluebird,120Y,Toyota Corolla 2 that sort of thing yes I owned all of those at

one time...Look closely[But not to closely] and you will see that he is smileing inwardly

as he knows that if the worst should happen and he has to abandon his trusty steed

he will still be quids in if he calls the scrap man...Not as much as a few years back

when I got £200 for my old Cavalier but a good price still....... Cavalier how

many?....My Diesel---- 9???!!!!

At the moment I own an older Golf MK4 thats ready for the scrap yard but something

tells me to mothball it in bits in the loft and bring it out in 10 years time as on Saturday I

stopped at a dealers not far from me who had 2 old Mk3s in..One in a bright green

was £3500 !!!! and another parked out of the way at the back of the yard in yellow at

would you believe £5000....When I pointed out the price was a bit steep the dealer

said they where classics now..Who knew????

So lets here about your very rare cars that nobody wanted......

Oh and Spike was a long 1/2 x 9/16 Elora that kept every car of mine going for 30

years till my main tool box got nicked and since then my spanners have gone

unnamed..

Not one of my 112 cars was one, that nobody wanted. Beside the Opel Kadett (my first car), that was totaled in a crash, i sold all my cars with a nice little profit :D

I can totally relate to Ian's post as very true because real motorists live in the real World... :D

My Dad had a ring spanner that seemed to fit whatever he through at it on all his old cars and while I have adopted all his tools, I am not sure which spanner it is and I promised him that when one Day it is mine, I would look after it for him.
