Issued in 1964, All England castings.

Chassis castings: 3 types
a. No web strengtheners in front of any axle housing.
b. Web strengtheners in front of second axle housing.
c. Web strengtheners in front of all axle housings.


Windows: green
Headlights: red or silver.
Bumper: red or silver.
Wheels - All red with black plastic tires.
Horns: wide or narrow.
Axle springs: green, red, orange, white or translucent white.
"Hoveringham": decal or label.

Lovely collection and group of variations.

Instead of the oversize air horns, I wish they had put a headboard on the cab (complete with HOVERINGHAM decal), like they did with the Foden wreck truck.

Really wonderful collection and brilliant detail you have shown.
I have a few more notes on this model if you would like them added.
I think this was one of the most played with Kingsize in our household and although it is looking a little worse for wear now, it is a rather important family piece.

The K1b Foden Hoveringham D box has eluded me and this is one of just a handful of pictures I have seen.

Given many of the 1-75 have ejector rings as part of the variation tables and some collectors include these, the K1b also has three different size rings on the base of the tipper that may be of interest.
There are three on each tipper underside and come in 7.0mm, 8.0mm and 9.00mm sizes.

Here are some pictures of mine showing D box, box insert artwork from the box you show without hanging tab, the ejector ring position, the rear view and end view of the window box with hanging tab and artwork on the G8 box containing K1b (showing the hazards of shrinking cellophane.)
Apologies for orientation of back of box, the vertical position loses too much detail and best viewed if saved to hard drive or tablet.

Thanks for the info. I will have to take another look at my models although I must say, I did notice the ejector rings but was not aware of size difference. Interesting stuff on the boxes as well. Unfortunately most of my empty boxes are stored away and I try to find what I can when I prepare these posts. The art work on some of these Kingsize boxes is amazing and it must have been a thrill being a kid in those days especially in the UK.

Yes I do remember from some earlier threads where you mentioned you had most of your boxes packed away, so hopefully any I have will save you some unpacking.
It was also a thrill being a kid in Australia especially in the early sixties for me. I still have most of my toys such as racing track sets, train sets and accessories, tin items as well as OO and HO related Lesney much to the delight of a young grandson along with way too much paper related items from that period.

This is a great model, just wanted to add that the tipper can also have braces between the mudguard and tipper. Either no braces, 2 braces either side or 4 braces either side( hope its ok Charlie but I have used one of your pictures for the braces), also very please to add this one recently.

According to Wiki, Gravel extraction was started in this area in 1939 by the Hoveringham Gravel company, which was taken over in 1982 by Tarmac. The Hoveringham Gravel Company used to have a mammoth as their logo on their lorries as a celebration of the finding of mammoth remains in their workings.
