Unpainted Boiler Shand Mason Negative Variation

We found this in a large collection. Is this one of the negative variations mentioned in the Yesteryear Book (Third Edition) regarding the boiler not being brass plated ? I cannot find any damage to the model that would be caused from switching boilers. Can these be switched without damage to the model?

Many models left the factory like this. The plating machine must have been the most unreliable piece of kit in the factory! Models of this era can have just about any part that should have brass plating fitted without it, Main culprits seem to be the Y2 Renault, Y11 Packard and Y14 Maxwell, as well as either rear component on the Shand. Every part of the Shand is available as a replacement, but you can always tell if they've been applied to a model. Spares are white metal, and are heavier and more flexible.
