Shrinking Pictures

I notice when I submit pictures to the forums here they are too big. How can I shrink them to get them to look appropriate? Or is there something else I need to do when I upload them? Thanks to everyone who "resized" my pictures so far;

Hello Bob, have a little read of hints and tips in this thread here...
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21&start=50#p38809
It starts off by talking about 'Avatar' image sizes but the process is the same for images and photos of your models for the forum. Any problems after reading it, give me a shout.

Ghosthunter.
Thanks, Perfect notes in that Photos thread. I was able to resize for the unpainted boiler Shand Mason question I put in the Yesteryear forum. Thanks!

That's OK Bob, we are all here to help each other, the trick is remembering how to do it after a few Weeks away from the forum...

Hi all,
a very easy way to resize pictures is to use the Microsoft "snipping tool" .
Just open the picture, start the snipping-tool program, make a frame over the picture and save it as a new picture-file with a different name.
I practice this since years and it works.

I think I am the blame for this, when I first set up the forum I messed about with the photo display settings to avoid having small pictures,
I can't remember exactly what I did and I don't want to mess around with it again in case I make it worse.

somewhere will be a setting to stop photos being bigger that the forum page.
something like this
I still say adding the Postimage plugin would be a good addition to the forum . it only shows clickable thumbs but on high quality picks you can zoom in if needed.
