5b London Bus

Post by Idris »

The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) points out that Nick's variation code 10 can be found with either light or dark GPW, and their variation code 5-2G features a third background colour for the "Matchbox" decal of orange-yellow.
Neither AIM's “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983), nor Stannard, lists any variation not already catalogued by Nick.
Houghton notes as variation code 5b-3 that Nick's variation code 2 also comes in orange-red.
U.K. Matchbox examined the model in vol. 1 no. 7 (Sep. '77) p106 (reprinted vol. 4 no. 3 (Aug. '80) p88), but no variations not already covered by Nick were identified.

Just to remind. I have mentioned it yet. There are three types of the body:
a) no assembly "nose", no grille protrusion
b) no assembly "nose", with grille protrusion
c) with assembly "nose", with grille protrusion

I assume that the assembly nose has been added during the production to make the assembly of the base plate and the body easier and to guarantee their better mutual fixing.

I'm not as home at the moment (my lady wife decided she wanted a weekend away), but isn't this one of the models which also occurs in a distinct orange-red?

I think that there is an orange-red variation, but I have no details.
