6b Euclid Quarry Truck
6b Euclid Quarry Truck
The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) lists, as variation 6-2A, a model with c/a (and therefore presumably identical to Nick's variation code 1) without decals. I have seen a significant number of these myself and would agree that it is a deliberate variation rather than simply an 'oops'.
Neither AIM's “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983) nor Stannard, lists any variation not already catalogued by Nick.
Houghton has a pair of models with silver-trimmed headlights: his variation code 6b-1 is otherwise a match for Nick's variation code 1, and his variation code 6b-3 is similarly otherwise a match for Nick's variation code 3. His variation code 6b-13 matches Nick's variation code 2 but has the tipper crossbrace. Since the GPW c/a model with the tipper crossbrace (i.e. Nick's variation code 2) is not listed, and the no other catalogue has an entry matching Houghton's 6b-13, I would suggest that this is an error in the table. Finally Houghton has paired listings: variation codes 6b-6 and 6b-7 match Nick's variation code 7, variation codes 6b-9 and 6b-10 match Nick's variation code 8, and variation codes 6b-11 and 6b-12 match Nick's variation code 9. In each case, the domed head of the tipper rivet is painted yellow in the first variation, and remains unpainted in the second.
U.K. Matchbox examined the model in vol. 8 no. 2 (Jun. '84) p46 but did not list any new variations.
It should be noted that a number of Members have shown photographs of models with silver-trimmed radiators on the Forum suggesting that this is a valid, early variation.

Re: 6b Euclid Quarry Truck
Antonin, what are your opinions of:
1)the silver-trimmed radiator grille variation, and
2) the no-decal variation?

My own version of the 6b with NO decals match the variation details as Antonin has stated.
I have also observed over the years we have had six members show their no decal variation.
I have yet to add the silver grille variation to my fleet. I have only ever found versions that I believed were hand trimmed which included some fine trim to the lights and bumper
In your proposed listing I note the MS silver trim model you list with NO decal. In the past we have seen Greg (about May 2012) show an example but this was WITH decals.
