To (mis-)quote Sir Edmund Hillary "...because they're there!".

I think if you have a "collector mentality" you will always collect something. From an early age I always seem to have had some sort of collection or other. From the little cards that came in the packets of tea (like those that came in packs of cigarettes) to stamps, postcards, actual matchboxes & bookmatch covers etc., etc. in these early days, cars were for playing with. They still are in a way, just a bit more carefully.

I am just like Bob, have a tendancy to collect lots of nik-naks then I discovered several model cars were being brought for me by my parents (Father most probably!), and later discovered there were one or two toys and models of my favourite car...the rest is history

A lot of the stuff that passes through my hands nowadays is for selling but occasionally something comes along and I just cant help myself. This week it was a Matchbox Hudson Hyway Patrol car its just brilliant.Last month it was the Chevy Estate with canoe superb. All locked away in the loft and not coming out till who knows when....So as far as collecting is concerned you see it, fall in instant love, and in my case hide it away in the loft only to view when I am up there for a little peak and a think about the railway that never got built.--That is my main collection and all housed in a Llidl apple box.....
