Hi All:

Working on doing a little custom paint job for a #13 Dodge wrecker. I want to install a new hook, but not sure about how remove the old remnants. Anyone attempt this? Please share your knowledge.

Before any preperation like the primer stage you seem to have done, I would heat it up over a candle or some other small flame and when quite soft just pull it away from it's fixings. Now the model is primered, cut through the remains with a sharp modelling knife and tease the Two halves out.

That's one way, be careful not to bend the boom tips outward. I'd just put a cut-off wheel on the Dremel and cut through the center of the plastic. Here what it looks like without the hook (two little pips or bumps hold the hook on). The hooks are installed by placing the wide top portion directly over the boom tip and pulling straight down until it locks into place on the pips.

Heres one I made myself using a bit of electrical wire and jb weld epoxy

The hooks are made in red and yellow and available from the usual replacement parts sources.

I'm going to see if I can cannibalize an existing truck for the hook. The shipping charges on parts are rather steep to the U.S.

Thanks for the link. Sadly, I already ordered from an e-bay supplier. I am familiar with Toy Resto. Glad they are back. Will keep them in mind.
