It was giving me a chance to own a luxery liner, it was factual and the artwork speaks volumes about the era.

That is indeed a great advert. Presumably a little before your time, Ghosty?

I'm guessing the copy must have been written before the "recent launch", as otherwise they would have known the ship's name, which had been kept secret beforehand.

Hi all,
Looking at issues of the Meccano Magazine from the 30's - 50's It always amazes me how seriously the company was about educating Boys (and it WAS aimed at Boys) in Engineering / Electrical Engineering, Physics, etc etc. While selling them the companies products of course, but I can't see a toy firm doing the same today.
Cheers
Chris Warr.

...of Gerry Anderson.

Coming forward to 1975 and the excitement of Gerry Anderson's Space 1999 tv series. One of the very successful lisenses Gerry's merchandise department had. Strangely I never had an Eagle transporter, so missed out on the great play value these models had.

I think they've put the wrong model in the box. It looks more like the Titanic to me! :D

I had this fantastic Truck and Trailer and played with it over and over again.

This really was Dinky at the top of their game. Just looking at the catalogue page for this model says a lot and for me brings back so many memories, another model I would like to get back into my ownership Today.
