I can use the 31 with clear glass Tim. I don't see a price on that one, but Please put it aside for me. Thanks! kwakers

Is there something we are missing on this Yellow Ford beater? Black base perhaps?

I believe Tim would have mentioned that if it were the case.

I guess it is just about the colourless window glazing, which Tim for whatever reason calls "clear glass", although it is neither very clear nor glass (it seems rather foggy to me and it is plastic)... :D

With a name like tjlglass, I'm not going to argue with him, besides he's bigger than me :D

I'm a big softie John you should know that by now lol, for the record it's red base with colourless plastic screens which in my opinion is a tough one to find.

For the price of a good hot meal, I can give Tim's yellow wagon a loving home with us yanks in upstate N.Y. LOL
To answer your question directly Numi, the yellow 31 B in general is very hard to find, is very under rated in the difficulty of finding a good one, and command lots of cash when Mint (even without their tough box). Whatever color base, whether the clear or tinted windows or even the windowless variation, and whichever variation is more valuable matters little when so few are seen for sale in the course of a given year.
I used to concentrate on only dead mint Lesneys 40 years ago because they were all relatively new back then. Our searches made for enjoyable family memories that are still part of my life today. After I found Nick's site 5 years ago, he and other collectors here have changed my attitude a bit on waiting for only "The Best". I am now happy in settling for less than mint in collecting some variations. By doing that, I still have the fun of collecting, but still get to enjoy life and other family pursuits that are a bit more important. On the occasion that a better condition model of a given variation like this Wagon comes along at a realistic price, this one can be sold back into the MB collector community at cost, much as Tim does for us here. That upgrade may happen tomorrow, or a rare variation like the GPW version of this yellow Wagon can be on a 'Wanted' list for over 40 years as it has been on ours. If anyone has any spares of any yellow 31B Wagon variations, Please PM me. I am certainly open to purchasing or trading for them, even if they are 'beaters'. kwakers

@Kwakers,the #31 Yellow Fords with both window types are not at all hard to find in lesser than mint condition. These constantly pop up in the murky waters and just recently one in excellent condition with shiny paint, slight handling and a few minor paint-chips sold for $49 on a buy-now.Ive seen more than 20 sell in the past 9mths.
Yes the black-base variant is a true rarity in the sense. The windowless follows.
I have no problems with any beaters and collectors are free to collect by merit or choice as such but i really would not know what to do with them...thats me.
I believe that its not about affordability but about priorities, patience & timing and a fair amount of luck. There are plenty bargains to be had but one has to search in the right places and those htf & rares will slowly but surely come in one by one.
Dad taught us and always tells us never to buy everything we see but buy that which will offer u something in return....so i understand that this pillar-less beater with frosty windows offers some sort of joy/consolation to kwakers and i have no problem as stated above or further comment esp if any collector/buyer decides to go around the block a few times but understand that its each unto their own.
No upset intended or hard feelings, just saying.
BTW we are all looking forward to your pics of the "never before heard of" PAPER WINDOWED models thats supposedly in your collection.Put us all out of our misery!!!
