Hi all,
if any of our members are planning to travel to Germany in fall, here are two Matchbox events that you should definitely take into your itinerary (if possible):
First of all there's the annual "Modell, Hobby & Spiel" fair that takes place at the Leipzig Fairground from Friday, September 29th until Sunday, October 1st.
It is the biggest German hobby and toy fair that is open to the general public - there are more than 600 exhibitors in three huge fairground halls
This event usually attracts up to 100.000 visitors every year!

There's always a large Matchbox stall at the fair, which is organized by Dirk Schleuer - but this year Dirk has added a Matchbox collectors Dinner on Saturday, September 30th at the nearby NH Hotel!
For the first time ever, members of the Matchbox team from the Mattel headquarters at El Segundo, CA will be attending the dinner and the fair!
This is the only chance to meet them in person other than at the Matchbox Gathering in Albuquerque, NM.....
Here are some more details about that:

The other event, the "1st Berlin Matchbox Toy Show" will be taking place at the "Restaurant 90", Mariendorfer Damm 90, 12109 Berlin from 9 am until 5 pm on October 28th. This certainly is much smaller than the big Leipzig event, but I'm pretty sure it will attract a lot of Matchbox dealers and collectors!!
It is organized by Carsten Oettler of "Cars & Boxes", a well-known Matchbox dealer from Berlin.
If you have any questions about the Event, or if you want to rent a table for selling, please contact him directly via his webpage https://www.cars-and-boxes.de
I hope to see some of you guys - no mater if in Berlin, or at the Leipzig event!
Kay

Perhaps a few forum members could get together for sharing the costs for a trip to one of these events, I'm sure it would be a great Day or Two.

Hi all,
just a reminder that the "Modell, Hobby & Spiel" fair (taking place at the Leipzig Fairgrounds from Friday, September 29th until Sunday, October 1st) is less than a month away!
This time the show is combined with a Matchbox convention dinner at the NH Hotel (taking place on Saturday evening) which is in walking distance of the fairgrounds!
New Matchbox designer Abe Lugo (successor of Michael Heralda) is giving a line preview presentation of the 2018 Matchbox range, and he might bring with him all the prepros of what's up to come next year!! (like he did at the Albuquerque Gathering).
Abe will be signing models and papers at the Matchbox stall some time on Sunday (I think)....
Dinner guests will be given a code 1 factory made Special Edition dinner model, which is the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 (there will be two versions )
There even is a third variation of the model which will be on sale at the Matchbox stall during the fair. The total production of the model (includes all three variations) is just 500 pieces! Here's a preview of the model(s) by the John Lambert and David Tilley:

Here are some impressions of the Matchbox area of last year's fair:

Hope to see you there!!!
