Speaking of wife jokes: My wife likes to talk during sex ... last night, she called me from a hotel.

I remember sitting down to watch a crucial football match that I had recorded, my wife then entered the room and declared;

"What are you watching that game for, there was no goals". :cry:

I am booked to fly United in July to Washington DC from London to undertake a 2 week road trip to Las Vagas (via the Matchbox Gathering in Albuquerque) taking my niece along for the trip. Because of the issues United have currently (did you hear about the record breaking bunny that died on a flight too this week?) and the steps that they are being forced to take because of it, this is the best time to be flying with them. Because now they are going to be bending over backwards to please us. They will not want any more bad publicity.

I have always said (and not in a way to make light of incidents or accidents, because they are always bad and sad) but a rollercoaster accident or a plane crash will lead to everybody double-triple-quadruple-quintuple checking everything. You never hear of anything bad in the same vein twice in close proximity? Why? Because after an accident everything is thoroughly checked for safety. After a while, human nature will always relax and cut corners. Eventually it leads to another accident. It is the same with incidents. Bad publicity is never good, and a company will work hard to make sure the same thing doesn't happen. For a while anyway. So I actually feel more comfortable at the moment going with them.

Loving the jokes though. And they Lego set made me laugh.

:) :D :P

Everytime I fly to the US I use to fly United Airlines, as Hamburg, Germany - Newark, NJ is the only direct flight from Hamburg to the US.
So I'm kind of a frequent customer, as I fly with them at least once a year (ABQ Gathering) since about 15 years.
Yesterday I received a long business email by their CEO Oscar Munoz, apologizing for all the things that happened in the past.
He promized that overbooking of flights will be lowered (he did not say it will be stopped!), and now they offer up to $10.000 to customers if they agree to a rebooking of their flight because it is overbooked. In the future, no customer will ever be removed from a flight if he's already inside the plane.
If your luggage is lost during one of their flights, a $1500 refund will be paid with no further questioning.

Well, on my flights from Hamburg to ABQ and back again last year I had a lot of trouble. Three out of six flights were late because of technical problems of the planes- so on my way to ABQ I arrived one day later than planned, and on the trip back I missed my intercontinental flight back to Hamburg and had to fly via Frankfurt (which was an additional flight, and it led to an arrival time six hours later than estimated).
Okay, it agree it is much better to not start a flight if there are any kinds of technical problems, but after the trip I sent a complaint to United.
My perception was that their fleet has come into age, or the maintenance has been reduced to the minimum.
As a compensation I received a $300 voucher for using for a future flight.

Well, this year I'm flying United again (using my voucher), but I will keep an eye on them.....there are cheaper ways to fly to the US..... ;)
I agree to David - this year United will do anything they can do to get back into better newslines! (See you in ABQ, David!)

P.S. The Lego set really made me laugh!!
