I would be extremely interest to know what out resident MoY experts made of this auction.
The text of the listing read: "Lot Description: auction is for a Lesney Leyland 4 ton lorry that was stripped from its standard brown finish and re-finished in Pickford livery by an ex-employee of Lesney Products many, many years ago. The paint is very flaky on the roof. the story i was told when i purchased this was that it was a standard model that had been stripped and re-finished in the livery you see as a livery trial for Lesney Products. usually a colour trial would be done with a raw unpainted casting".
I should point out that the vendor has recently sold a significant number of later Yesteryears acquired from a named former Lesney employee which included a number of pre-productions.
