Tekno tinplate cars

Post by karl »

I just found a red one! It’s the GYRO version of the Tekno. They also made a MIRACO version. Do you know when these were made? The Tekno book says 1950-55? Looks like a copy of the Schuco Mirako car from post-war...

So unusual with those tiny slit windscreens, very cool looking :D

Hi Karl,
Those are brilliant, I've never seen them before. I wonder if they purposely modelled a top chop Kustom car? Looks like it to me.

Thanks Rod! Great car! There is another Schuco out there that is even closer in design! Actually 99% the same! ;)

Chris - My theory is that, with 1940s technology, they could not bend tinplate in those curves anymore than they did. Hence, very small windows. Rod's Schuco figured out how to do it slightly better (perhaps a few years later)?

They are manufactured by Tekno - under license from Schuco

Thanks, plys! How do you know they had license? I am curious about the history of Tekno!
