Just got 52 BRM racing car without labels or decals, and there is no evidence at all that they were appyed.
Did this happen often?

Decals/labels
Re: Decals/labels
There seem to be examples around of most models without decals/labels or without trim. Some are probably just manufacturing errors, others may well represent deliberate decisions to issue models in spite of something having run out (i.e. in order to meet sales orders), whilst a third group is probably formed by 'proletarian shopping' by employees who wanted to take home small gifts to family children.
Having said all that, I do not recall having seen a 52b BRM without any decals at all Which variation code is it?

Re: Decals/labels
A reminder for everyone, it's easy to remove decals and labels, without leaving a trace, at any time in the models life. Never, ever, pay a dime extra for such a model.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
Re: Decals/labels
We did find double labels in blister packs that came right out of the factory. As for decals, a model may be delivered with two different colours or types on it, or even a combination of side decals and hood labels, OR just the opposite because of them being added by different employees at a different point on the assembly line.
As for "Missing" decals or labels particularly on your #52 Racer Gary, this model is not known for ever being delivered without them or even being found in our stores lacking one or two. Somehow, Lesney quality control was very good on the proper labels and decals being installed on our favorite toys.
With all that being stated from my own experience when these Lesneys were boxed and brand new in our stores, chances are that your BRM Racer was modified as some point in it's life for a race car layout or a display by carefully removing its decals or labels. The operation of removing them is quite simple on both types without any paint damage or signs of removing them, so Please enjoy your model as it is now. I have models with damaged decals, and also some like yours that are completely missing that still enjoy an important place in our collection. I prefer to leave these Toys and enjoy them as-is, but quality replacement decals and labels can also be added if anyone feels the need to use them. Enjoy, and be Happy collecting, that is the most important part of our hobby! Kwakers

Re: Decals/labels
Connected to Gary's original question and on the back of another question he posted elsewhere about Bentley models, does a forum member know which model(s) have the number '30' decal (not sticky label), fitted.

Re: Decals/labels
I don't know of any RW Lesneys that ever used a #30 decal, perhaps a later Yesteryear, or simply a decal from a modeler's supply catalog from years ago....kwakers

Re: Decals/labels
Thank's Dick, if the latter, then there is no way of tracing the decal's origin.
I have a 'Yesteryear' Bentley with said decals and would like to know if they are genuine fitment or owner fitment. One aspect in the model's favour is that it is in a very playworn condition suggesting the decals are possibly as old as the model itself (1956-62).

Re: Decals/labels
The 11b, 25c and (I think) 32c petrol tankers were all released in the DDR without the corrupting, capitalist company advertising on the sides/rear (although the boxes still depicted it!). This may explain why the 25c is so often seen without decals.ClOwY wrote:Why is this more common with the No25 petrol tanker.Gary
