i have been on the look out for a 25c bedford tanker with the full trim and never found a nice one for a good price...the other day i scored a lot of models...main thing i was going for was a bright yellow cab cover for the super kings 17 bedford lowloader tractor bulldozer...some other good stuff in the lot was a trailer for the major pack #9 cooper jarrett double freighter ...had the cob but no trailers...so i finaly got one...on more to get plus the coupler thing to join the two trailers...superfast grey grill and base #10 pipe truck

back to the main part of the story...there was a 25c bedford tanker in the lot and i thought...too bad it didnt have the painted grill...so as i was checking my 51c tippers because of the thread idris posted i just happened to check the 25c bedfords and low and behold i have the painted grill variation...glad i didnt go buy one recently haha!

Good story Dan and I think a lot of us can relate to it by doing the same thing. What you got a watch is if you keep doing it, that's probably when it's time to give up collecting...

Don't forget to check that painted grill #25 Tanker for possibly having the rare earliest casting thin rear cab wall Dan! Once you own one, you will never let a cab go unturned on any of these Tankers without checking for a second example. I found mine totally by accident on a model from Germany after the variation was noted and shown here on the Forum a few years ago...... kwakers

I checked Nick's Guide just now to find that the thin walled cab was never noted and added in as his new Code #1 YET Dan. If you do a search 'thin walled cab 25 Bedford' on the top right of any Forum page, it should take you to a Post by Jason (Nearlymint) which notes and illustrates his finding one of these earliest Tankers in 2013. I am almost sure this variation was discovered on LeFora before Jason's Posting of it as noted, but I could be wrong on that fact. This early cab wall casting is dramatically thinner and weaker, and with its BPW pre-dates the limited release GPW versions that all seem to have the later and 'common' thick rear cabs on them and also a mix of early painted and later untrimmed grills on them.
