K21C Tractor Transporter

K21C Tractor Transporter Issued 1972 All England castings.
All models have two purple tractors (MB25B).

1. Blue body/silver-gray base/dark yellow interior/dark amber windshield/dark yellow loading ramp.
2. Blue body/silver-gray base/yellow interior/amber windshield/yellow loading ramp.
3. Blue body/silver-gray base/yellow interior/amber windshield/yellow loading ramp/reversed cab labels.
4. Blue body/silver-gray base/yellow interior/amber windshield/black loading ramp.
5. Blue body/silver-gray base/yellow interior/amber windshield/red loading ramp.

BTW what was the retail price of this model? $5, $8?

Seems like a lot of work for so little money, but that is what I loved about Matchbox in the first place.
So much detail for only 49 cent on RW and only $2 to $3 on KS.

You know, there are few die-cast cars out there today (unless you are willing to pay for it) that have near the detail that went into the old Lesney models.

There seem to be two slightly different baseplates. The early one has smooth edges to the wheel cutouts:

whilst the later one has cast ridges, presumably to keep the wheels clear of the casting:

There may also be a late change to the front bumper, with earlier models being straight and later curved at the ends, but I am unsure about this since it may simply be the result of over-exuberant play!
