M10a Dinkum Dumper

Post by johnboy »

This must be one of the least mentioned models, but I had a couple at hand and there were a few points to note:

Like others, including the Earth Scraper, the paint can vary between yellow and orange/yellow. My orange/yellow version has smaller rear tyres, I know these are interchangeable, but has anyone else has noticed this? Also the ejectors on the bottom of the dump can be raised or recessed.

Are the red plastic hubs different sizes?

I've measured them and all the hubs are the same size.

I always think the cab on this model doesn't really work from an aesthetics point of view. It would look better, bigger. I suppose you could say that about a lot of things.

The real Whitlock Dinkum Dumper's tractor was based upon the Fordson Major farm tractor chassis and running gear. Whitlock constructed a new hood, structural protective roof and modified the tractor to steer the rear wheels (eliminating the front wheels). Lesney probably scaled the model pretty close to the actual rig.
