Hello, nice to be back collecting and nice to be back on the forum. I'm hoping to add to the few Crescent Toys I retained but as ever anything which looks old and unbranded catches my eye and I'm not really sure in which category my first buy falls. I have seen these railway platform trucks listed as Crescent and as Morestone (for Salco) but have no idea which is correct. If either is correct......
There seems to me to be a tendency for unbranded items to be attributed to a maker, and for this to then 'stick' and be accepted as fact - just look on ebay for all the Benbros tractors being sold as Charbens or Crescent. My guess is that this truck was described as Crescent because of the wheels, which do look rather like some of this maker's. On the other hand, there is no ID on it at all - not even a 'Made In England' and for that matter nor is there any fatigue. I notice there are 2 holes in the seat - I wonder if it had 2 people on board or is there an unusual driver out there with 2 pegs in his backside?
