Now where on Earth did that come from! they don't do a Silver-Grey bodied version do they and then it is missing the over-coat colour which from memory would be something like a pale Blue!!
Or is it from one of those obscure 'Off-shore' gift sets...

The silver ones were toy fair samples made for the '74 relaunch.

Superb color and a pitty it never came out as such.
I think it is also pictured in the catalogue at that time if I am right.

Not this one though, as it has disc wheels with whitewall tyres as made from 1979 onward.
The silver-grey model shown in the 1973 catalogues has wire wheels and blackwall tyres like the metallic red first issue from 1975. It also has a red grille and red interior.
If you want one of those, you will have to keep on searching I am afraid...

Agreed Christian.
Note this promotional flyer shows a preproduction model with no centre strut to the windscreen, and seat pin attachment for the roof.
There seem to be a few of these as shown at the start of this thread around as well. Was the colour scheme re-done at a later date as a colour trial/recolour proposal?

I am not sure if I misunderstand something, but to me this must be the 1981 short run in silver-grey as mentioned in the Yesteryear book, except that the side panels are not powder blue as listed there.Interestingly the silver-grey model shown in the colour picture section of that book has no powder blue side panels either (just like the ones shown in this thread), although such a variation is not listed on the model's catalogue page in the same book.
I now wonder if this is an intended variation, a negative variation (on which the powder blue side panels were inadvertently omitted) or really a colour trial.
