Another fabulous display Charlie, you really do have a fantastic collection. Do you have the plastic copy of the Scammell Dumper Truck shown here...viewtopic.php?f=5&t=338&p=64052#p64052

Revised post - added more wheel and label variations.

While going through some more boxes, I found this interesting variation of a regular wheel K19A Scammell Tipper Truck. Picture #1 shows two regular wheel Scammells with or without the
modification underneath the tipper. I have checked about a dozen regular wheel Scammells and they are all without the mod.
Picture 2 shows a regular wheel next to a superfast wheel Scammell for comparison. I may be wrong but It seems that the regular wheel model with the modification was produced at the
very end before the change to superfast wheels.

... and one more variation:
a) small tipper stop
b) large tipper stop

Hello Charlie, Antonin and all,

Thank you for highlighting these latest variations.

Generally when we see a raised platform on a base plate as per K10/K19 this would be a later base plate.
However all the models I have encountered with the K10/K19 raised plate are paired with the decal version.
Normally I would put decals ahead of paper labels.

So back to the base plate I am thinking the K10/K19 raised platform was the first base plate on the K19 tipper production models and the mould was modified by adding metal and this is possibly when the crosshatch pattern was added. Alternatively a completely new mould was created with Scammell Contractor wording in lieu of K10/K19.

If this is correct then the decals first, labels next and labels through to Super-king.

This would then also make sense given the K19 regular wheel that Charlie has shown with the extra brace/covers over the rear axle. On my version of this variation it is fitted to a model with the Scammell Contractor base. See attached photo. This would put it after Charlie’s code 9.

My other thought is that IF the base plate with the wording Scammell Contractor and cross hatch came first for this to be modified the raised platform is easily done by removing metal on mould but there are no signs of the metal being removed to eliminate the hatching on the subsequent base plate.

What this means is that Charlie’s code 8 and 9 should be at the beginning of the table and suggest the code 9 (dark red) actually becomes code 1.
This would also bring it in line with the code order the same as the K10 Pipe truck.

Can anyone who has the EXTRA brace/covers on their RW tipper please check to see if they have a base plate with raised platform K10/K19.

Plates on the rear of tipper
That is actually an interesting addition to the casting and a brace like this normally would have been done for strengthening.
It is a brace/plate either side of the tipper axle and looks to have been done to protect the axle. The other possibility is to ensure the tipper itself could only be located between the tipper pin axle supports during assembly.
The hydro sleeve shaft would aid the early versions but still possible to assemble a tipper tray at an angle. By adding this double brace the assembly of the tipper to the body assembly process is improved and eliminates the accidental misalignment.

Extra notes
The K10 Pipe was released early 1967 ahead of the K19 mid 1967
The Super king K19 base plate at first glance looks similar to the RW but the only carryover technical detail is the size and the cross hatch.

Hi Bert,
I have a prepro version of this model and can confirm the K10/K19 should be first although my one is on a flat base(not raised).
I also have a lemon yellow tipper listed later on before it changed to the super kings, but I will need to dig that out and confirm.
Regards
Jason

Antonin - Thanks for the pictures of the tipper stoppers.
Bert - I agree and have revised my post to reflect changes for variations #8 & #9 to #1 & #2 respectively.
For Jason - Can you post a picture of your prepro with K10/K19 on a flat base?
Thanks for all the input.
Charlie
