None of the NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition), AIM's “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983), Stannard, Houghton, or Leake ("Concise Catalogue of 75 Series Matchbox Toys by Lesney" (4th edition, reprinted 2006)) lists any variation not already catalogued by Nick.
U.K. Matchbox examined the model in Vol. 6 no. 6 (Feb. '83) p209, with a follow-up in Vol. 7 no. 1 (Apr. '83) p23 but does not list any new variations.

However, two new variations have been detailed on the Forum:
- Joe (Tinman) revealed that he has found two examples of maroon models without the cab/load-bed brace. My guess would be that these otherwise match Nick's code 3 (8.5 x 18 MW, f/h, c/a, hand applied trim).
- Steven (Artherforz) found a maroon GPW example with riveted, flat-headed axles. This also appears to be otherwise as Nick's code 3. In the same thread, Numi stated that she had noted a similar example on Ebay.

Suggested variation detailes now confirmed as being correct.

Well, not on this particular occasion anyway.
