Rolls Royce [Pocher] out of storage at last.

Post by misterpop »

Well look what came out of its coffin shaped box this week for its long over due restoration and completion before being sold off later this year...Still a lot of work to do and it starts with trying to remember where I was up to before I threw my arms up in the air 10 years ago and buried it in the loft.....Now lets start with the bonnet lining up with the Radiator and bulkhead and see where we get to from there.........

I like what I see so far and it looks as if you have either added a bit of weathering or it has attained a natural patina. I am watching with interest... :)

That is actual age.I like the rusting on the fan thats quite realistic hey?....I have to look at the back springs as I think they may have flattened with time....If so Its spacer blocks I'm afraid or I may hang it off its springs upside down for a few years.... :D

I can't wait that long, I'm getting old and there is a danger I'll lose interest in Rolls-Royce and won't have a clue what I'm looking at in a few Years time... :o

I googled the doors and found a guy that ended up making his own doors from scratch..The fit is terrible as you make them up after the outer skin is positioned on the hinges and only then put in the door catches window and winder inner door structure and finaly the squegy door cards and only then can you fit the window winder and test, then you find they dont fit the body as time has distorted the frames...So I have worked out a way to hang the doors after making them up.Thats where I am now.

OK Ian, thank's for the description. This Rolls-Royce released in 1970, was only the Second 8th scale model from Pocher and it was a brave move for them to add opening doors and I agree with you on the complexity of the design. I have seen several examples where the doors just do not fit properly and they can spoil the overal look of a finished model.

Keep us updated with the progress.

Yes as Kevin says keep us all updated on your project Ian. Good luck with those doors.

Kevin on the subject of projects what is the current position with your own Rolls build?
I have tried to find the thread unsuccessfully but I recall you showing some images of the engine being built.
