#45a Vauxhall Victor Dash Brace Question
#45a Vauxhall Victor Dash Brace Question
Hello,
I just came across this #45 Victor without the dash brace, I was told that it is a "holy grail" and is very rare. How rare is this?

Re: #45a Vauxhall Victor Dash Brace Question
Having played around with the photograph, I think it is an example of the version without the dashboard brace.
Although definitely htf, the fact that the variation is not immediately obvious when the model is displayed depresses the price somewhat. Quite by chance, another braceless example sold very recently for only £31 (which I think was probably a bargain).

This was my sale and yes it was the real deal, now on its way to the States and the buyer has got a good bargain IMHO.

It's your listing picture Kiov has shown Timbo, if he won it it's the real deal and a right little bargain ,the first I've actually seen in hand in nearly 25 years of collecting

I thought that it was Victor that Timbo showed us at Birmingham and it definately does not have the dash brace. Great little rarity.fixer wrote:It's your listing picture Kiov has shown Timbo, if he won it it's the real deal and a right little bargain ,the first I've actually seen in hand in nearly 25 years of collecting

It went very cheap and the buyer in the States has got a good bargain, it's swings and roundabouts as I done really well on the subbuteo that I bought at Sandown. Can't win them all.

Thanks, I saw it on ebay and just wondering on how rare it is to have one of these.Idris wrote:Having played around with the photograph, I think it is an example of the version without the dashboard brace.

Re: #45a Vauxhall Victor Dash Brace Question
It is a very rare model. Originally this casting WITHOUT a look-a-like dash panel was thought to exist only on models painted Red. It is relatively recent that this casting was discovered to have also been painted in Yellow, but in far fewer numbers.
I have a Vauxhall toy and model collection and have collected toys and models for many Years, I am always on the lookout for Red Victors, just for information for my files and have seen a handful of them, but I have never seen a Yellow example until the example aquired by our very own "tjlglass" (Tim), on the forum.
The price realised for this single example despite it's condition, is a real bargain.
