Not sure if/how this will work or if the correct place for this.
Is there sufficient interest for a thread for VBD members who have items for sale on Trade Me?
Would a separate thread need to be created so members can link to their auctions?
Will place here to see if there is interest & PM moderator.
Unfortunately Trade Me only allows NZ & Australian residents to register
https://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Register.aspx
Here is what I have on offer this week: tractorboy end date Sunday, 11 September
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... ber=365976
So 2 parts:
Is there interest? - you may be a seller, buyer or both
How would we set up as a thread?

Could be useful since it will enable these items to be seen (and purchased via PMs) by the wider collecting community.
Re: VBD Members Trade Me Sales
Hi Ian
I'm in. I will be listing lots of diverse diecast over the next couple of weeks, RW's, Superfast, King Size, Super and Speedkings, Corgi and Dinky.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... ber=341779
Any contact by PM only please.
Selling listed items outside TM could be tricky as withdrawing listings sold elsewhere still incur full TM success fees. However, I have seen a retailer who sells TM items in their shop increasing the price on TM for sold items to $500 which dissuades people bidding.....
FYI, Your second link doesn't work as I Presume it is your My Trade Me page with you logged in. I think you will need to log out and then copy the link to your listings visible to everyone else.
Cheers
Dave

Re: VBD Members Trade Me Sales
Thanks Dave, I have fixed the link to my auctions (you were correct).
I was initially thought that auctions would be available to all but then found TM restriction to NZ & AU residents.
I did wonder about setting up a separate user account e.g. VBDcollector to enable non residents to bid by proxy (this would require a trusted person to bid on their behalf).
After a careful reading of Trade Me's Terms & Conditions this is not possible and could lead to whoever set up the account losing their Trade Me membership.
One of their clauses did state this: If anyone outside of NZ/AUS wants to contact Trade Me through the registration process and see if non residents can get exemption, that would be good.
Given the above information - auctions listed in this thread would therefore only be open to registered Trade Me members (sorry Rest of The World
).
I'm happy to post here to highlight what I've got coming up & Dave - anyone else?
I've been through 42 pages of membership list & will try and PM the 15 NZ/AUS members I found (interesting how few members put their country information) with a link to this post.

I did Setup a "Trade Me" account using my sons address in Perth. I receive emails from TM but have not bought anything yet. Will see if they accept a German credit card!

Hi Rodger,
I support this suggestion, but note that I only purchase on TM. I sell my extras exclusively at Toy Fairs - those in Wellington/Lower Hutt, Trentham and Palmerston North only (it's too difficult for me to get to those in Auckland, and are there any others left?). I have no desire (at this stage anyway) to sell on TM I'm afraid.
Cheers,
Gavin

Re: VBD Members Trade Me Sales
I'm with Gavin. We started up the Wellington Toy Fair to get away from trade me and faceless trading.
I like the contact with fellow collectors. Having said that I've taken some wonderful matchbox items that you don't see over here to the swapmeets and no one even looks at them! I'll have a pile of old beaters on the corner of the table and they sell like hot cakes and I make good money off them.
My plan was to try and trade some of my better matchbox stuff with members on this forum. I've just not got around to taking photo's of the items yet and posting them on the forum.
Cheers, Steve

Re: VBD Members Trade Me Sales
Thanks Gavin & Steve, thought that might be the case that we tend to know each other on TradeMe and look at if anyone we know is trading (most probably have got them on Favourite Sellers for e-mail).
Thanks Rod for registering from overseas - so perhaps you can register and just need to give a NZ or AUS address & phone number for delivery.
I was hoping that international collectors could register and thus have another auction site to access but this may not be possible given TradeMe's T's & C's.
Will wait a bit longer for any other responses from those I PMd.

Re: VBD Members Trade Me Sales
After I had been on a while on TM I was told that I could buy from Oz but not sell unless I had a bank account in NZ so I stopped using it. TM is very NZ centric so don't think it would be suitable for any overseas member here going by what they told me.
