#46 Beales Bealesons Question

For those of you that have a Beales, can you tell me if the decals are smooth or raised. Is there a way to tell a fake from an original?

Thanks, John

The decals should be raised and the clear backing film should have a tennis racquet shape, two of the sun rays should align with the centreline of the text, and there should be a small black dot between Beales and Bealeson. In addition, the model should carry no silver trim.
An excellent guide to spotting fakes of this model can be found here.
If still in doubt, please post a photograph.

Here is a copy of the picture. It is in a current auction so if against the rules please delete. I talked with the seller and the decal is smooth.

Let me know your thoughts.

I've never seen this box before.
I thought the Bealson promo came in a plain tan box with a sticker that said 'It's a pleasure'.
Thoughts?

The box is a repro - hence my concern over the authenticity of the model. If you ask me the color is a tad off as well.

The colour in the photo isn't right but there are other photos where the colour seems more accurate. For me, the dots are a worry, especially on the other side, in the final close-ups. I'm also not convinced from the angle of the photos that the sun rays line up correctly with the centre of the lettering. I could well be wrong but my concern would be repro decals, but certainly worth asking for square on close ups of the sides of the van.

In my opinion, the photograph shows a repro decal on a repainted body:
1) decal is smooth,
2) rays to not align with the centreline of the text,
3) body colour is incorrect shade.

I think the dots between Beales and Bealesons were added manually, they look different on both sides. Not bad, $430 (with reserve not yet met) for a fake - I am sure it is one. (BTW, there are now replacement decals available with the dot but the font is bolder than the original.)
