K76A Volvo Rally set

K76A Volvo Rally set Issued 1980. All England cast.
Another nice set, this time a volvo station wagon and a Datsun.
Roof load on the station wagon can be found in tan or brown.
The windshield of the volvo can have chrome outline.
The roof lights of the volvo can be in chrome or plain.
The tow bar can be found in tan or brown.
The Datsun's wheels can be found with five spoke mags or five dot.

K76 pre-pro photo and production differences

In comparing the original pre-pro photo from matchboxkiwi Steve with the production K76 Rally Support Set the most notable difference is the body colour of the Datsun 240Z but another is the plastic roof luggage and spares was altered before production. Close inspection will see it looks like a set of four tyres. See black and white pic alongside my colour pic. On the Volvo production model roof rack it has three Mag wheels complete. So spares for the support vehicle only, the rally Datsun driver has to fend for himself.

The other item not shown in the black and white pic is the trolley lift shown in the foreground of my production colour photo. The workers have a new dark workwear as well compared to the diorama set.

I like the box artwork on many of these king size. In the photos from Steve the rally set is shown with a diorama which would have been a nice addition to the production model box. However in the ones of mine it is just a plain light green card plinth.
