Hello fellow collectors!
I would like to introduce myself: my name is Maarten a.k.a. "Maestro", 57 years old and living in the South of The Netherlands approx. 1 km from the German border.
I have been looking around on this forum for some years, however - shame on me! - never took effort to subscribe as a member, until now!
In The Netherlands I'm quite active on the http://www.3inchforum.nl, specialized on "Matchbox size" models such as Lesney, Hotwheels, Siku, Majorette, Playart etc.
You can find me there under the same alias "Maestro".
My core collection exists of Lesney/Matchbox Regular Wheels, Kingsize, catalogues and ephimera, however no Superfast or Yesteryears.
It all started over 35 years ago when I found a Lesney 3a Cement Mixer on a flea market. It reminded me that the toy cars from my youth still should be somewhere in my parent's house.
And they still were! Lesney, Dinky Toys, Corgi Toys, Politoys, France Jouet, Tekno, Lego... Of course I still have them nowadays!
Next to this Lesney/Matchbox core collection the Husky models attracted my attention about 10 years ago.
In the meantime it has grown to a quite large collection including some special promotional models (Dutch Shell Tankers), a few Corgi Juniors (those with 'Husky' wheels) and of course Husky catalogues and ephimera.
About 2 weeks ago I found a crisp 1968 Japanese Husky catalogue!
The third category of models I collect are Hong Kong and Japanese copies of mainly Lesney/Matchbox models, no matter what scale, but also of Dinky Toys and Corgi Toys.
Actually this category has most of my attention, it's really fun to see how many pirate copies there are made!
I'm never strictly limited in what should fit in my collection, so I also happen to have e.g. Spanish (Joal), Italian (Samtoys) and Polish (Estetyka/Ruch) copies.
I plan to post some models of my collection in the near future, so stay tuned!
Maarten
