Does anyone have any other hobbies

Post by Lee@kai76 »

Just wondering and interested with what my fellow collectors do with their spare time/hobbies etc..apart from collecting models.

I'm also a big collector of silver coins/bullion and totally crazy on my fishing.

I have a vast SONY equipment collection, a Camera collection based around the Olympus 'OM' system, a Scalextric collection and I like to scratchbuild models such as the Rolls-Royce Van below.

My father has quite a camera collection, couldn't tell you much though without asking him.
And god did I loved my scalextrics, I had loads when I was younger..can't remember what happened to them.

And that model is nice I like it, excuse my ignorance but what do mean by scratchbuild, as in from scratch.

I also noticed you are you crazy on the Rollers, you have good taste and I share your passion with them, I have a dozen or so superfast and regular wheels version's my self and intend to get some more

Hi Lee.

Yes, 'Scratch' tends to mean I have created a model out of bits and peices from other models or have hand made components myself such as all the Van body, small parts like the outside driver's mirror and the 'Silver Lady' mascot.

Ah I see thought that is what you meant, and I would get great pleasure knowing I had created models like that, very nice! I might have a go myself one day because I'm pretty good at making and fixing things myself.

Anyway my bed is calling, great talking to you guys

Photography, Traction engines, I have a library of over 120 traction engine related books, and every edition of "Old Glory" heritage magazine ever published. I do some freelance work for this magazine on the odd occasion.

Hi,

not shure if I posted this before.
The paddle Steamer belongs to a friend the tug is mine.
Both ships are scratch built.
Once or twice a year we manage to meet at a lake and launch the boats.

Hi All, I must have one of the strangest hobbies apart from collecting matchbox. I build & repair vintage slot machines. I am currently finishing off some working models coin operated & I take out a small old time penny arcade to different fetes & shows. You can check it out on utube just type in old time penny arcade Pete

Pete, did you get any of Joby Carter's stuff when the family sold their Penny Arcade? Used to travel with Carter's Steam Fair.

Hi Bob, didn't get to the auction as we were at a car show with the arcade. Stuff was fetching a fortune. I knew John Carter very well always use to have a cup of tea with him when we use to go to his fair. There is another arcade travelling with Carters so I have been told, haven't seen it yet Pete.
