Glitch
Glitch
When I am moving between pages on the forum or logging in, logging out, etc. I keep getting this message. It happens with ie and not chrome and I can only think it started after some automatic updates recently. It's normally a javascript command on a website that invokes this but I was wondering if it's just me or is anyone else affected? No other sites I use are affected and I've cleared down the cache/cookies.

Re: Glitch
John, if you know that message has been instigated by Javascript. go to the uninstall programs, right-click and then uninstall it. Not many websites these Days rely on Javascript, so you might as well lose it. There will be the main Java program and probably the updater program labelled with the number 31 or 32, uninstall this as well.

Re: Glitch
Thanks all for checking and thanks for the suggestion Ghosty. I'll have a look tomorrow, I may well uninstall Java and see how it goes for a few days, I suppose another idea is to reset ie, or to switch to chrome for the forum. Decisions, decisions

Re: Glitch
Google Chrome has gone through some changes recently and they have found a conflict with a recent update and some of the antivirus software some of us use. If you want to continue using Chrome, turn off the auto update because again Chrome updates are becoming less useful and I found they were causing havoc with my particular laptop's set up, so I renamed the folder containing the update code so it can not work.
I have also given Chrome a rest and installed Firefox, but found that the Two shake hands and Chrome was still doing the actual internet searching for Firefox!!
I have not seen any windows similar to the one you show on the PC's, but I do get similar prompts on the Macbook when I want to steer away from pages!

Re: Glitch
Thanks Roland and Ghosty. You're right Roland, some websites build it in as a safeguard to stop you losing unposted text and some naughty websites do it to keep you on their pages. Well, having done nothing at all to my laptop, it's stopped completely. It was happening every other page for a day or two and now nothing all day It must be my laptop but why it started and why it's stopped is a mystery.Miller wrote:I never had this window here on VBD, but i know that from other sites. Re: Glitch
John, I would bet more on a server error as that it came from your laptop
