A pre production Matchbox Crash game as seen on page 36 of the 1970 Collectors catalogue. The actual game was issued without the Superfast on it, see page 56 of the 1971 Collectors catalogue. Quite why this was I don't know as everything was very much about superfast by then.

Another pre production box. This time for the G1 service station set.
Notice the box is all hand drawn. Although it has superfast on the box this time there is only one superfast models included.

A third pre production box. New for 1973 G-2 Big Mover Transporter set. See the 1973 collectors catalogue page 66.
The cars on the transporter are in different places and facing the opposite direction as is the transporter. The contents words are just lines on this box and the ship is different. The wheels of the cars appear to be hanging over the edge of their tray making it hard to shrink wrap.

An item I have never seen. What about you? Do you have this in your collection. I think from memory it is illustrated in one of the American trade catalogues.

This is the same pre production box as shown on page 66 of the 1973 collectors catalogue. The production box is shown a year later in the 1974 collectors catalogue on page 60. The only differences I can pick out is that the starting lights are more prominently illustrated in the photo above and there is no officials box illustrated to the left of the MB 70 Dodge Dragster . The only other thing, similar to the G-2 Big Mover Transporter Set is the car wheels appear to be hanging over the edge of the tray that holds the vehicles.

This G-6 Drag Race set looks pretty standard to me.

Cheers, Steve
