Cleaning up old sticky labels

Post by AJR »

I have a couple of original models with paper label decorations.
These are intact but are very grubby.
I have been told that holding fresh white bread onto the decal for a few days "lifts" the dirt and makes the face of the label like new again.
This doesn't seem to be working so does anyone have any better methods?
Replacement labels are available but I thought that sticking (sic) with the originals would be best.

Beans on toast is great, but decals on bread...not so sure I'd enjoy that as much...

Ghosty.
