'The Great Book of Corgi' has become a reference for many collectors. It is strong on historical information more than a concise catalogue of the models produced. What models it does cover have been fairly well described.

As in most reference works, it has to be seen as a beginners guide to what Corgi Toys was all about and is basically the printed version of the memories of Marcel R. Van Cleemput, the chief designer for Corgi Toys for most of the production period covered by the first edition and many of the models used for photography came from his own collection.

There are mistakes, one in particular relating to the Corgi 'CLASSICS' range from 1964 where the type of boxes used for the first models is incorrectly described.

"The Great Book of Corgi" is one of the best books on Corgi I have (and I have quite a few!). I also have a copy of the revised version that supposedly covers the later Corgi period, but quite frankly it is of little use as the information on the later period is very badly skipped over. Both books have slightly different information in parts but the earlier book would suffice for anyone lucky enough to find a copy. Mine came in the presentation box with the presentation model of a London Bus and the pocket books.

"The Unauthorized Encyclopedia of Corgi Toys" by Bill Manzke is my second most often go-to book for identifying the models in my collection but only because I use another Schiffer book ("Corgi Toys" by Dr Edward Force) to visually identify models first (it has better photos). I've worn out two copies of the Force book (currently using copy 3) and I'm on my second copy of the Manzke book!

Bill Manzke lives with his wife and two children in the Midwest and has been an avid Corgi collector since age 6. Dr Edward Force is a recognised author of standing, having written many books on toys covering Dinky Toys, Corgi Toys, Solido, Classic Miniature Vehicles Made in Italy, Classic Miniature Vehicles Made in France, etc.

"Corgi Juniors & Husky Models" by Bill Manzke

To my knowledge this is still the only published book specializing in the small-scale diecast models made by Mettoy and its successors.

It contains a variation listing which is based on and expanded from the Juniors and Husky sections in Ed Force's earlier book on all Corgi diecasts. Unfortunately still very incomplete and with many inaccuracies, but nonetheless useful and much better than nothing. While nobody produces something better and more comprehensive, it is recommended to anyone interested in vintage small-scale diecast models.

Regarding the revised version: This is called "The New Great Book of Corgi 1956-2010", and I have to admit that I have not bought it after reading the comments on Amazon. Basically: "If you already have the old one, don't bother."
The original Great Book content from 1956-1983 is largely (but not completely) included in the New Great Book, and then unfortunately only a few pages dedicated to the history from 1984-2010. The reason I mention the New Great Book is that Amazon now has it on sale for only £29.25. The earlier versions start at £80...

I'd second that - got a copy some time back and a very useful book to me (who doesn't actually collect all that many Husky and Corgi Jnr models)
