Hi one and all - just a brief intro about my collecting passion. Basically, I collect Dinky, Corgi and Spot-on cars, only of English makes i.e. the types of cars I was brought up with in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I have over 300 different toys, mainly in mint or excellent condition. By 'different', I mean that many examples will be of the same specific model but will be in a different colour or have different coloured interiors or wheel combinations. Theoretically, my collection will be complete when I have every colour, interior, wheel type etc but I do not expect that to be any time soon as, by definition, those with the unusual colours are very rare and hard to find....and very expensive on good condition!

You may have noticed that when describing my collection I did not use the 'very near mint' (VNM) expression. It's probably just me but I feel that 'mint' is like the word 'pregnant'......someone cannot be nearly pregnant! Just as a woman is either pregnant or not, to my mind, a toy is either 'mint' or it is not. I do buy most of my toys these days from a well-known auction site and I despair when I read that something is 'mint except for........this, that and the other'. NO ! Even worse, is to read that the description is 'mint' only to see the pictures clearly show that it is anything but.

I have joined this forum as I am not only interested to read about the views of other collectors and to share their passions for whatever genre interests them but also to ask a few questions about specific models/versions and in some cases to find out if they actually exist.

Thanks for listening to my (mini) rant,

Alan

Welcome Alan, we have fledgling sections on Corgi and Dinky etc, so do feel free to add pictures and info to them. We welcome questions on models, as we do like to give our experts a hard time!

I look forward to seeing some images of models in your collection.

Until recent times, for me the Corgi Capri was always the best representation, just annoyed I never actually had one... :x

A saucer of milk left out at night works wonders (or so I've heard).
