Yesteryears with spun rivets

Post by nearlymint »

Recently on some models I have noticed spun rivets, I have taken a picture of the 3 models . Just do not think I have noticed it before but it could be my memory.
Y11 Lagonda is a lighter cream but standard as far as I can tell
Y7 Rolls Royce looks standard
Y15 is the one I recently got in an all over red.

Hi Bob, axle ends are rough on this one b. The model has the rear axle support webs. J

Mick Flack has one the same as this. His has a label on it saying "plastics trial".

Thanks for the info, plastics looks standard to me but it is the first model I have had with a maroon grille believe it or not.

As BOb says same as mine Jason. I got mine from Derek Grundy who was the senior quality guy at Lesney. I haven't seen another in all these years so often wondered about it he told me it was a final run to test the plastics only - not sure if they were of a different composition to overcome plastic shrinkage or what as basically the same as release colours.
Nice to see another one though so I am convinced as genuine. Check out the rear window, you may find its 1mm deeper and wider so window looks larger. Mine also has chrome 24 spk not gold

Used to get a lot from Derek as did Ray Bush and some real treasures round there that I missed out on at the time to Ray. You could only buy from what was lined up on the window sill at the time and next time there would be a different lot of prepros up there - great days. I sold a lot when I came to Oz, one offs and some great ordinary prepro which I have never seen since - wonder where they all are ?
This is mine but not spun rivets just normal ones
