I have listed this on eBay and imho this is very rare and I've never had nor seen a mint one. I have turned over 1,000's of bases and only ever found one beaten up one. Have started it at .99p and will see where it goes.

1st issue #30 8 wheel crane on ebay
Re: 1st issue #30 8 wheel crane on ebay
Hi Tim
As a Superfast guy I have taken a look at the ebay listing and I can see in words in the title what the rarity is but cannot equate that to the photos because I am not a reg wheel expert. As a suggestion how about a comparison photo with a standard model showing the no brace rarity, might boost the bids mate.
cheers
Rob

Tim may not have the common version at hand for a picture. We do have a picture of both versions somewhere on the forum and I think Dan ("Brad Pittiful"), may have one.

Nick shows a photo of the brace / no brace variation very nicely on his variation page for the 8 wheel crane.

There is a method to the madness Rob as I want this to go to someone who knows what there getting and a real collector, as opposed to a speculator. Might hit my sales a little but not overly concerned tbh. But thanks for your advice as always the gentleman.Rob wrote:Hi Tim

Once you learn of this variation, the madness continues well after you find your first, then second, etc., etc., etc., etc.
BUT, I only have 2 of these after years of looking and flipping these very common Cranes.....
After trading for my first braceless Crane from Jason (Nearlymint) 4 years ago, I bought a NMint one that was shown on EBay U.S. with a very nice base picture. This was/is the only one I had or have ever seen listed there. Upon arrival, the female Seller had sent me a very Mint Crane she also had advertised with the later brace on it. Fortunately she had stopped the correct listing, and after several tense days waiting at the mailbox, the correct model arrived. I had immediately sent back the braced one to her amazement at my cost, but it was a very small extra price to pay for such a rare casting. I continue looking and sometimes buying from that honest Seller's listings even today, two years later......

I still look out for them. I found a second years back while still living in London which I then sold to another member here...
That was probably close to 10 years ago and I've not seen another since.
Cheers,
Gavin
