Not sure where to put this one as it is a question about what is stamped on the box, I have never seen this on any other box.
2 boxes pictured I bought recently have been stamped with "CANTEEN" on the box, just wondering if anyone has come across this on any other boxes.

These were models sold in the factory canteen to the workers. I've seen very few of these over the years, and don't have an example. Only ever seen it on the pink/yellow 'F' boxes. Nice find. The Simplex is in the wrong box, as it's a Woodgrain transitional!! The Magic locating system is still working I see J.

Thanks for the info Bob, I was keeping the Simplex safe until I get the right box. J :D

They are stocks of models with nowhere to go when production was suspended at the end of 1972, so yes the canteen had them. When production resumed in late 1973, the specification of the 'Yeteryear' models had changed, the models we now class as 'Woodgrain' issues.

The boxes are worth more than the models as these rarely come up for sale. I don't have one, only seen a picture of one.

Yes that one is in Jason's box, I was referring to the usual models found in the 'Canteen' boxes.

Considering these boxes were superseded by the purple/yellow ones, would this really be the reason for their existence? I've never seen a purple/yellow example with this stamp.

I don't know why we have not seen the Purple and Yellow examples, certainly would like to, maybe the whole range were not being given to the Canteen, only models they had left over after all the orders were completed.

I have been going through some Y-7 1912 Rolls-Royce models covering the 1968-72 period in their 'Time-Line' and looking at the boxes there are Two types for 1972, the Pink and Yellow with a full line of text on the lower front panel and then the Purple and Yellow with the full line of text.

Looking at Jason's 'Canteen' boxes, he has the Three line text versions from 1969-70, so I was wrong in allocating them as surplus stock from the suspended production period, sorry Guys, should have looked at the text before jumping in both feet first...
