Another interesting toy-related news story.
Who can shed more light on the red Rover Sterlings?

Re: Interesting News Story
I haven't heard of this before - but if prototypes and colour trials are included in a list of rarest Corgi toys, then there certainly must be some of which only one example was ever made and twelve colour trial samples are most definitely not "the world's rarest Corgi car".
I would like to own the prototypes of the Dan Dare Car (in the 1981 catalogue) and the Mercedes 500 SEC "Magic Top 7" (1985). How much time I have wasted as a child searching in toy shops for those two models!

Re: Interesting News Story
I am not so sure the story is as exclusive as is made out. Certainly the Rover 800 was introduced as a road car and in various 'POLICE' car trims...
...and to single out One colour trial model from the vast number of models made is a bit silly, as colour trials exist on most of the vehicles from Corgi and others as we know.
Ghosthunter.

Back in 2000, the Corgi Toys Dan Dare Car prototype has been auctioned off here in Germany (I had it in my hand during the viewing).cOO7rgi wrote:I would like to own the prototypes of the Dan Dare Car (in the 1981 catalogue) and the Mercedes 500 SEC "Magic Top 7" (1985).
