Worried about this one

Any one notice this one, this base colouring seems familiar with a recent thread but I cannot remember where from .
I feel something may not be right with this one, rivets do not look right and the other models for sale are worrying as well.

Tbh Jason I placed a bid or two on this Merc but when the price went up and up I left others to fight it out, not sure what you are seeing regards the baseplate and rivets. I liked the lighter shade of blue which was what caught my eye and given the final sale price others liked it as well.

Maybe i´m to much into old playworn cars, but to me it looks to glossy.

Front rivet is not right at all. Almost level with the base, cannot quite see why the base is like this but if you look around the edge of the body it seems to have paint missing or someone silver on it.
I have compared this to a few Mercedes and this is not right at all.

Hi All, the base seems to be very dirty should have been some flakes of paint on the rivets. The chap put it on a buy it now for £300 last week somebody must have wanted it Pete

Just looking at some of the past feedback, I can see a very familiar seller from Hungary and some others. The others that sold as well do not look right either. Unless thaey just had prepro plastic parts.

You are spot on Pete, these earlier ones normally have some traces of paint. But I assume is has been cleaned with something.

The base of the 1100 s/f that sold also looks to have been treated or partly cleaned to me.

I am glad I didn't bid any higher with all these concerns, thanks guys for highlighting these issues. JB I have just looked at the baseplate of the MG and must agree that something odd is going on with its baseplate.

Speaking from a modeller's point of view, the baseplate on the Merc has been 'weathered', deliberately treated with careful application of thinned Black paint brushed on and off again with a cloth. This technique is used by many Military modellers, fro dirtying up Tanks etc. I could recreate the look within a few moments using a Pencil, my fingers and a cloth!

I agree with Jason about the front rivet and I have doubts with the rear rivet. What Year are we looking at with this particular model, should it have solid wheels or hollow wheels?
