The WOW factor - as you come in the door

Post by RVREVO »

The 8th of February 2016 was the day i completed my Parts Works Aston Martin DB5 James Bond scale 1/8 model.
Its wheels are a custom 3D Printed job I was lucky to order from another collector who had redesigned the wheels to be more realistic.
Made some photos and it was just another day for me as Mum was in the hospital into her 5th week for the same backpain that brought her into hospital 3 times in the past couple of years.
I had just finished my nightshift and planned to see her in the early evening as I had done every day.
Around 4.30 pm Dad woke me up as it wasn't going well for Mum. Rushed to get dressed and then got that dreaded phonecall that Mum has passed away.

For the next 5 days time did not exist. Despite the bereavement leave went to work in the weekend. Too soon.
On the 15th Mum was cremated. the next day i was very ill until Friday.
All the stress appears to be gone.
Very strange feeling as what normally would annoy or frustrate me just doesn't.
its rather pleasant not losing my temper all the time, I'm certain it must be one of the phases.

In the meantime The James Bond Aston Martin DB5 has inadvertently become a shrine.

My regret is I wasn't able to show the photos to Mum.

Thank's Richard for bringing this and the story here. I know you have received many messages of sympathy on 'Planet Diecast' as it is a sad story and it will be hard for you for some time. We may drift apart from our parents but deep down we all still love them and its such a loss when it happens.

As I said on the other forum to you, I hope you don't become tempted to sell the aston as it does now have significant value to you, take care Richard and don't leave it too long before your next visit to us.

thanks ppl

just posted a review of the latest Corgi 50th Anniversary model I appear to be collecting a large quantity of.

I have collected and sold a great many of these in the past year, but for New Zealand its really not happening.

I'm still after a gold plated 30th anniversary, as got a 40th anniversary model last year.

It appears that every decade it starts with Goldfinger and then it never eventuates into the next movie

Richard, great to have you back and sad for your loss.
I thought that you have been stressed lately from some of your Facebook posts.

Some of strangest memories are associated with loss and it will take time to come to terms with events.

Know that you have many friends here and on other forums that wish you well.

Hi Rodger, fairly certain deleted those posts, but ofcourse not everyone deletes everything they see.

was quite ill and depressed for a few days.
After that all the stress was gone, and I do mean all of the stress.
I find I have a better temperament, more patient, not losing my temper as I was prone to do,
and all those irritations that bother us in life.

Will be starting up trademe pretty soon again.
got loads of cars to move on.

still got a lot of my early 75 series, and Muffin The Mule - what a find that was.
