I recently acquired this Major Pack 9a...

It has no decals or labels on the side but on top of the trailers, there is an "Alcan" decal.

It seems like the old Alcan logo, the same used on the promo for the 51C

and also on this model, described as another promo (but not sure of its authenticity however)

My model was purchased in the province of Quebec, which was the base of the company up until its acquisition by Rio Tinto in 2007.

Has anyone heard of such promo ?

Thanks in advance !

Pat

that alcan decal looks like a sticker to me...i hesitate to call it a label as the ones used by lesney are paper...that alcan piece looks to be plasticy and with a sticky back...but its not in my hand as it is yours...you prolly know better...just saying what it looks like on my end

if its a real promo piece...its a nice one!

I agree with Dan that it looks to be a thin plastic type with a sticky back. Was Lesney using this type of label on any of their models at the time of the M-9 being produced and what type of label was originally used on the sides of the trailers, wee these waterslide decals.

Over the years, Alcan seem to have used a number of different Lesney models as promotionals. My impression is that they are code 3 models (but I have no evidence for this).

Hello Pat
I bought Hendrickson 2 trailers a few years ago in Toronto with plastic Alcan labels just like yours.
Foolishly, I thought they had been added by a child and I removed the plastic labels.
The models both had the older paired wheels and yellow Cooper Jarrett decals.
Now that I see your models I am kicking myself :-(
Ce la vie. Live and learn.
Kurt
