SF45 BMW 3.0 WHITE & GREEN BLANK POLIZEI

Post by TOYRFIC »

I have been hunting for a mint example of this version for some time. I had a chance a few years ago to get it, but I waited and missed out!
Well, last month a Vectis auction had it in the background of a group lot. I got up at three in the morning to bid. I am in Arizona time.
She arrived today and I am as giddy as a little girl! :D

Now, what is its history? I have read that it is a prepro of the German release just with no labels and no hole drilled for the roof light.
Also, conversations arose to suggest that it was a short run only released in multi packs like the MP-1.
The green tempa blocks are a darker green than the dome light labelled versions.

Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jason!
Congrats and GOOD eye on picking that one out of a "crowd".
I certainly know about getting up at "Oh dark thirty" to bid on those UK Vectis auctions as I've done it many times!

I hope this model turns out to be what you're hoping for.
"The Gathering" is only a few months away!!

I am 100% certain that this is a pre-production version of the "Polizei" BMW. I know because I was a member of the London Model Club at the time (which is where mine came from).

Congratulations Jason, what a superb example. I picked mine up a while back and was delighted to get it despite its condition.

The two models pictured here seem to have different shades of green tampo printing, or does it just look like that?

By the way, the regular police versions are also known to come with different shades of green.

Can those who have this model please let me know if their examples feature the roof light support in the window glazing under the roof or not?

If they do not, it is likely that these models were created from leftover stocks of the Manhalter issue. If they do, then that is not the case.

The same thought occurred to me as well and I would be interested to know the answers to Christians question.

Thanks Alex for photos and Hugh for confirmation also, I would agree with Hugh now that this is a pre-pro. As Alex said about the 42a Iron fairy Crane thread these discussions are invaluable and we all learn things from them.
