RW, YY and Dinky lot - Opinions?

Post by RSSierra »

I'm familiar with and happy to have acquired the Dinky's / Corgi's in the lot below, opinions needed on the rest?

The picture isn't great but condition looks to be generally very good.

Pick up is tomorrow, so close ups can be uploaded shortly of anything of interest.

Cheers

Hi Dave.

It would be nice to see Grey plastic wheels on the Matchbox 'Royal' tiger coach, in front of the White 'Yesteryear' Mercedes. A French Dinky Silver Wraith could be good. Plastic bumpers on the Dinky Bentley 'S' type would be nice. Open front forks on the 'Yesteryear' Sunbeam motorcycle and sidecar is good. No decal location casting on the Green Matchbox 'D' type Jaguar would be a real bonus and Silver or Grey plastic wheels on the Beige/Gold Rolls-Royce would be good. The remaining Matchbox models may throw up a few surprises and will need separate more detailed pictures. I don't think there are any real Corgi gems unless the Gold James Bond Aston Martin is mint and the Blue Jaguar Mk10 again in mint condition is always nice to have. The 'Yesteryear' Mercer, Packard, Renault and Showman's traction engine again will need detailed pictures to see if they are uncommon versions, so you have a lot of work ahead of you... :D

I think it's a 'b' series, rather than an 'a'.

Yes I think you are right Hugh, looking at it against the 'Yesteryear' Sunbeam combination it does look too big for the earlier version.

That's a very nice and clean haul Dave! have fun unwrapping those. Some group shots of the regular wheels, side on/bases etc. would be good.

Looks like a very nice lot! If the Y7B has gray tires, it's a great find. The K45A is almost certainly in better shape than mine.

The Y-7B is in fact a Y-7A and it looks to me as if the spare tyres are Black (they can be swapped of course), and for the Mercer to be a 'Gem' it will need to have totally un-braced front wings, so that needs a closer look.

Y7A would actually be the Leyland 4-Ton Lorry. You are correct about the front fender bracing (or lack thereof) and the ease with which the tires can be swapped out, though.

Yes you are correct, despite checking the Y-7 numbers, I still got it wrong and I know Y-7(3) is the Rolls-Royce because I seriously collect them. I've been at this game far too long...

Hi Dave, I don't know dick about Dinkys or Corgis but you have a very nice and interesting assortment of RW Matchbox there. And even the white roofed Fowlers in the right rear may be nice. Nice find and good luck.
