Are those thread holders similar to the old Plano "Jammers" cases? If I remember right, they are now sold as thread holders due to safety issues. Regardless, it's a good tip.

found a video of the item that you can get at joanns to store you model cars...they are putting thread spools in them...ignore that...you can see the compartments and the general shape of the storage case

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hghsWjerNjs

here is another video...this time it has toy cars in them...but remember im just posting the video for the case so everyone who isnt familiar with them can get an idea of what they are

Thank's Dan for the video links and now having seen them I can see the potential uses, but storing loose models is a great idea or the smaller models still in their boxes.

Yes Squid, these are the same Plano cases you are familiar with. After your original Post on these being at JoAnnes Dan, I asked my wife for one of these for Christmas. On Christmas morning, Thanks to you, my wife gave me a dozen of them. Does that mean I can now buy 560+ new Lesneys? NO! :( I think it just means she wants me to pick up my "overflow" all over our bedroom, and to move them into these neat cases where they can be seen but not tripped over. I better do that soon, they are really great cases. Thanks Dan! kwakers

haha...wow...ask for one and get 12 thats pretty cool of your wife...not having one i do know that some wives have ulterior motives...maybe she does but it works out for you in the long run!

Now, that is a very nice wife! Firstly -- she allows some Matchbox in the bedroom and then to deliver 12 cases for Christmas -- Fantastic!! :D
You should be counting your blessings if you're not already...........
Well Done!

success! dropped my mom off at her hair appointment and took a quick jaunt to the joann stores...bought ten of the storage cases...now i will fill them up!

i have some of these cases already and try to keep similar models with each other ...does everyone do this or do you just put any type together...i find if i need a hay trailer...i have them pretty much in the same case and then wont have to search all over to get them!

or would storing them by number be better?

Oh how I wish I could be as organized as you Dan, sounds like a reliable way to manage multiples of the same model... :D
