37a Restoration

Post by Tinman »

Matchbox 37a Coke Truck restoration. Both upper corners of the rear signboard were bent inwards but the rest of the casting itself was in good condition.

Joe, you have put your 'BP' resto description at the top of this thread by mistake.

Very nice Tin. I love these little trucks. I think I made a Dr. Pepper truck out of one once.
This might look good in red too as a Coke truck.

Looks great as always. If you don't mind me asking, how do you handle the crimes axles? Do you file them down and re-crimp them, or what? I've always had difficulty taking wheels off the crimped axles.

I take the flared portion of the crimps off with the Dremel tool. If the axles are slightly too long, I'll grind off the crimp area, reinstall them and re crimp them. If they are just long enough, I use different axles (which sometimes have to be slightly shortened) and crimp them.
