K-11 Transporter Metallic Blue Cab, Yellow/Orange Trailer

Post by zBret »

I just acquired this K-11 DAF Transporter. It apparently is a first version metallic blue cab paired up to a second version yellow/orange trailer. I do not see this variation listed for the K-11 Car Transporter, in Nicks guide,
although I do see that a cross-over variation does exist and is listed for the K-8 Car Transporter, which occurred when it's color was changed.

Perhaps these cross over editions occurred as well, with the K-11 Car Transporter, during it's color changeover?

The pivot rivet does show a couple of cracks. I have posted some photos. Would appreciate some expert opinions.

Hi zBret,
Very nice and interesting model, it is possible that some cabs were left over and used up. Never seen one before myself
so must be in very limited numbers. Will be keeping an eye out for one myself now.
Thankyou very much for showing us.

whoa thats cool! another to keep a watch for!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Thank you for the replies.

I was a bit concerned about the cracks in the pivot rivet, as I have nothing to compare this model with in my collection.
I was however to find some close up photos on several K-11 models that were listed on a "well known auction site" and they did show similar cracks in their rivets. (see pic below) So apparently this does occur on these when these rivets are struck.

I think this example Metallic Blue Cab /Yellow orange trailer is notable as it implies that perhaps there were left over Metallic Blue cabs left over from the gold trailer version, that were then paired up to the newer yellow/orange - as occurred similarly on the K-8, during its color change over. Either that, or perhaps there was just one last metallic blue cab left over that got tossed in with the lot. Either way, this seems to be a rather rare find !

Perhaps some other examples will turn up, now that there are other eyes are on the look-out.

Very pleased to have shared it with you here and to have it in my collection .

Sorry I am late to this, but yes, those little cracks are typical of rivets with such a long shaft, absolutely normal.

John, It is a rather nice color combo isn't it, I like it a lot.
I found it on a sell what you have site. There was nothing in the listing denoting anything special about it and actually it had been for sale for over a month, at a fixed price of 10 euros, before I came across it. I couldn't buy it fast enough !
I think I did well :D
I'm still not sure if it's a one off or there are more to be found... I haven't been able to find any other references to this particular model, in this color combo. It seems to be a new discovery and I would think at the very least, quite HTF.
